I'm the richest person in the world

I am the richest person in the world
By Chhabi Subedi, Vijayee

My mind is abuzz with all kinds of questions. I put every possible effort into finding their answers within my best capacity. Let me begin with a humble lesson of life that I would like to share with my esteemed readers.

First thing first, I should immediately stop blaming others for all the awful things they are doing to me. I might sound crazy at first, but yes, one should stop blaming others. Once you stop blaming others, things will start happening differently. Stopping to blame others is the panacea for all troubles in life. Believe me, I am not exaggerating at all.

Sometimes, I ask myself what the purpose of my birth on this earth is. Why, particularly this beautiful country, Nepal? I just ask myself. How long am I destined to live, eat, and work? When the end of this life is dead sure, I am aware of my final journey—the path to heaven.

I strive hard to find the answers to these questions with no success. There is no dearth of so-called religious gurus who are equipped with the knowledge of religious scriptures, but they have miserably failed to satisfy my inquisitiveness. I am still on the path of discovering myself. But what an irony! I always introduce myself to people, but deep down, I don’t know myself. Thus, I would like to request my dear readers' help to know myself…after all, who am I?

Over the years, I have realized that how we act in this world leaves its direct impact on our personality. The way we speak, think, act, behave, listen, advise, and so on and so forth are a few things that constantly mold our personality. You might wonder if such traits of personality only make us known in our society, but the truth is that they leave a global impact. Hence, every single act of our life must be taken with due respect.

Most people perhaps don’t pay much attention when they pelt stones at a mango tree that is laden with ripe mangoes. After pelting stones, they collect some tasty mangoes and eat them to their heart’s content. Let’s see the act more minutely. We threw stones at the tree, but in return, the tree has reacted. It gave us ripe mangoes. Did the mango tree retaliate? Was the mango tree furious at the offenders? Not at all. However, how do we retaliate in a similar situation? If we are hurt by someone, we immediately try to hurt the person with every possible resource available at our disposal. Don’t we?

The mango tree gives a lesson in life to us. Perform your task to the benefit of others, irrespective of their intention towards you. Just give it a thought. What has Mother Nature not given to us? Mother Nature has provided everything that we need to live in this world. We have plenty of oxygen, various plants, crops, fruits, water, and sun to get the warm energy of life. We exploit everything necessary to live on this planet, but without being grateful to Mother Nature. How shameful and ungrateful we are. Have you ever given your thoughts?

We must learn a lesson from life and from nature. We are here to do everything that can bring a flicker of a smile across the face of every living creature. This is what Mother Nature has been doing for ages. And this is the reason I never count my discomforts and plights, but instead I am more concerned with my activities that should bring a little change in the lives of people.

  2. I agree with you, Mr. Subedi. We are truly here to give but not to take from nature. Everyone thinks of taking, but there are a few people who think of giving to others. I really like your concept.

  5. You are the first writer to write about what we can give to nature. Otherwise, nowadays everyone writes about how much we can get from nature and people. I respect you as a writer.
