THE WAKE, IS A CALL FOR LIBERATION AND AWAKENING
A book review

"The Wake: A Poetry Anthology" is a powerful collection of poems that explore a range of emotions, experiences of love, the personification of life, and an understanding of nature. This heart-rending anthology of poetry by Dr. Bhawana Pokhrel is a masterpiece of her poetry, crafted with such a flow of rebellious and delicate philosophical notions about the beauty and mystery of the world. Ambar Publication House, an Indian publication, has published the book, and it is distributed in Nepal by Bajarngabali Books Enterprises. Eighty-seven poems celebrate such intellectual perspectives on life, agony, love, and liberation for the discovery of eternity.

One of the strengths of this collection is the diversity of voices and perspectives that the poets' hearts see and their eyes feel and that are represented in lyrical forms. The poems range from deeply personal reflections on loss to meditations on the universality of life and the human experience of technocratic love and suffering. Some of the poems are raw and visceral, while others are more abstract and philosophical. As the poetess, reinvent a few words and phrases, i.e., poeigma, kafkaesque, sapiosexual isha, snow nap, and living love. Despite the wide range of styles and approaches, the poems in "The Wake" are united by a common thread of honesty and emotional authenticity. Each poem offers a unique perspective on the experience of living a self-lived life, and many of them are deeply moving and thought-provoking.

One of the standout poems in the collection is ' The Mast of Life'.
portrays the sense of our perception of how we are unaware when we have many anticipations in our lives and live fully in the face of them. Another notable poem is 'Distance', which explores the idea of life and how far we can get into a form of transformation and renewal during our lives.
Some more poems render themselves in mind and heart after reading twice and thrice like 'Between the Lights,' A Soul-Share, 'The Grim Ghost,' To the Million Migrants', 'A Road to Remember', 'Pandora from her Pyre', and Seducing Sapphire'.

The poem entitled 'Paupers in Parliament' is one of the best satirical pieces that raises numerous questions about the commoner's daily lifestyle and how parliamentary members rejoice with such fundamental necessities in their assembly despite being servants in leadership. 'Bigreki Buharee' is a very ironic verse about being a derailed daughter-in-law in their husband's house, how a woman is tamed with many chores, and how she continues to be a machine in twenty-four hours despite having many of her own dreams and passions to live independently. This poem shows a sense of equality, liberation, and feminine ideology. Similarly, ' Purush's poem is a total description of male chauvinism, showing how male-dominant concepts still allow men to survive with ease while females are being used and practiced with such ill ideology.

Dr. Pokhrel's poems constitute the power of 'Wake' for eternal life and liberation with dynamic voices of subtle moments that all of us lived in the contemporary world. Each of the verses sings a song that eases life and nature, easing souls and mysteries. Her poems surpass the availability of dimensions of human life in the totality of time. An aesthetic redemption of the arts in life and using more metaphors, similes, and images made an anthology for the awakening of souls. Her poem mostly seeks spiritual awakening and includes an increased sense of empathy, intuition, and connection to the world around them through the magnetic power of the universe.

Overall, "The Wake" is a powerful and thought-provoking anthology that offers a fresh perspective on a varsity lifetime. Whether you are grappling with your own experiences of loss or simply seeking a deeper understanding of the human condition, this collection is sure to leave a lasting impression.
